Jake Toseland, assistant branch manager at Buildbase, finds himself on a roll in this blog post about the benefits of Suregraft paint rollers when aiming for a professional painting and decorating result:
Having recently redecorated my own house from top to bottom, I speak from experience when I say that having the best paint roller is essential.
But how do you know whether you’re buying something that will carry you through the entire job – for example painting a whole house, including walls and ceilings, in two coats – and is easy to clean?
The humble paint roller might appear to be a product lacking complexity; but before you think you know all is there to know, there are a selection of roller heads designed to create a variety of finishes, such as base coat, top coat, masonry, etc. The choice of materials they’re made from are, in brief:
- Entry level
- Cost-effective and good performance
- Mid-level quality
- An excellent all-rounder
- High quality
- Specialist sleeves for different applications
As an entry level product, the knitted polyester is often seen as a “throw away” option, offering good paint pick-up but lacking in quality and durability, therefore used once and disposed of. The mid-level warp knitted roller provides a good quality, durable product which can be trusted by both “DIYers” and professional tradesmen
And while the woven option is very high quality and provides a high standard finish, it can be prone to pile collapse when used incorrectly, meaning it is better suited to professional decorators.
Selecting the Suregraft paint rollers
In the face of such choice for a seemingly simple product, the team at Buildbase – when selecting our own-brand Suregraft paint rollers – wanted to ensure they’d be able to cover a range of jobs with the right balance of quality and value for money.
The result was the Suregraft paint tray and roller set: a quality, durable product that can be trusted by professional tradesmen and “DIYers” alike.
The set was created for Suregraft by Harris Brushes, a company manufacturing quality decorating products for over 80 years, winning numerous awards and even a royal warrant. Harris is the market leader in the UK and is the preferred brand for many professional decorators. It was this level of recognition and trust among professionals that made them the ideal supplier to create our Suregraft range of rollers.
And so, if you are looking for paint rollers you can rely on to do the job and that won’t cost the earth then this could be the product for you. As it turned out, it was the product for me when decorating my own house: I bought three sets at the start of the job and the density of the pile meant most walls were covered in two coats.
Then I could get on with the rest of my life!
