Buildbase‘s Stowmarket branch has taken first place among nearly 200 branches for its charity fundraising efforts.
The branch team raised more than £2,000 in 2018 for the local Stowmarket ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) charity and Cancer Research UK, our national chosen charity.
The branch was recognised at the Buildbase national conference, with manager Ian Bell picking up the award on behalf of the team.
The highlight of its fundraising events came when the branch’s celebrity customer – the well-known entertainer, Roy Hudd – offered to stage “an evening with…” at a local theatre, sharing stories from his show business life and raising money for the charities.
Money was also raised with the support of Buildbase suppliers and the raffle of a motorbike jacket donated by Bradley Rae, one of the Buildbase Suzuki Superbike riders.
Branch manager, Ian Bell, said: “Fundraising is a team effort at Buildbase Stowmarket and we are all very proud to be recognised with a company award, especially when it’s about doing something that helps a good cause.”
The ASD charity was chosen for local fundraising following a Facebook poll run by the branch.
