Hirebase “Two-wheel challenge” raises over £17K for cancer research

Our brilliant branches recently took on the Hirebase “Two-wheel challenge” where almost 50 people cycled and rode 1,000 miles for our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK).

The Hirebase “Two-wheel challenge” allowed teams of staff to choose any two-wheeled vehicle to complete 17 stages between Hirebase’s most northerly branch in Shetland to its most southerly in Exmouth.

Hirebase Northern Director, Richard Carter, covered more than 400 miles through fog and rain.

By the time the final stage was completed, the intrepid fundraisers had raised a huge £17,595 for CRUK’s work with prostate cancer.

Among the most notable performances of the challenge was Falkirk’s Buildbase manager, Steven Clark, who cycled 94 mile-stage alone!

Rick Bauer, Sales and Commercial Director at Hirebase, said: “On the final stage of the challenge, we even paid a visit to the Cancer Research shop in Exmouth and there was quite a welcome party.

“Whether the weather was beautiful or raining, windy and cold, the teams were determined to complete the challenge and add to the money already raised for our charity.”
